Our 1st trip to the vet

Well, today was the big day -- first time for a car ride (no one got sick - yeah!!).  Aunt Kathy was able to go with us and help carry the crate into the vet's office -- needless to say - we make a statement when we arrived -- a crate full of absolutely darling pups makes every one ooohh and awww!!  Even the people with cats couldn't help but adore them!

Everyone had a clean bill of health:

  • Eyes and eyelids checked
  • Teeth/bite checked
  • Hearts listened to -- check!
  • Check for hernia's -- good to go!!!
  • Ears checked
  • Boys were checked for testicles -- all accounted for!

And - what we all love the best:  we were weighed:

  1. Lexus 4.3 lbs
  2. Casey 4.2 lbs
  3. Elvis 4.9 lbs
  4. Patrick 5.3 lbs (it's all muscle!)
  5. Zoe 4.4 lbs
They all received their 1st set of shots.  You will receive a record of what was given - and should plan on making their next vet appointment in about 3-4 weeks for the next round.  Heartworm is prevalent in our area.  The doctor gave me heartworm pills - which I will give them this weekend.  We don't want to over burden their little systems today with more chemicals.  I was happy with their check-up.  They came home -- played out in the grass - destroyed my tulips -- ate their lunch and are sleeping soundly.

Drum Roll, please

After much thought and deliberation -- my name is Casey -- no more "lil tri girl - or Grace" from Ralph and Lois -- I know my name!!!

Paddy wants to explain!

This week's pictures are going to be a group of sleepy, full bellied pups.  The weather was so nice when I came home, we let them all go outisde and play, play, play.  We're expecting major storms through tonight.  Then they came inside -- they were starving  -- let them eat.  The pictures show full, tired pups -- I apologize - but they are still you pups, and you will experience this.  Puppies too tired to anything but rest -- ( remember they are growing as I type).  Hope you still enjoy the pictures -- also hope, Internet does not go down before I get them post.  They are all precious!

Coming Home Information

Time is passing so quickly, and I know everyone is excited about their puppy coming home.

The puppies will have their shots at the end of April.  I do not like to push that ahead.  Shots are absolutely important, but those little bodies need time to mature.  Years ago, people gave shots at 5-6 weeks of age.  That was  also the time when puppies were allowed to leave for their new homes at 7 weeks.  Guidelines have changed ~ pups can only leave after 8 weeks, and shots can be given later at 7-8 weeks. I prefer 8 weeks.

This means pups will be ready to go the 1st weekend of May.  Many of you are traveling distances, and I am willing to take a vacation day on Friday, May 3rd if that helps anyone get their puppy home so you can spend more time with them.

If you are planning on making this a two day trip, many of our previous families have stayed in Grove City, PA.  That is about 20 minutes from us.  Grove City is famous for their Prime Outlets -- over 100 stores - lots of motels and restaurants.  BTW - no sales tax in Penna on clothing/shoes.

The pups are currently eating Purina Pro - chicken/rice puppy food.  Purina Pro is a higher grade of puppy food than Purina Puppy Chow.  It is available at pet stores - I buy it at Tractor Supply.  If you are planning on feeding a different food, that is fine.  I'll send some home with you to make the transition.

I'm excited for everyone!  Please let me know your plans in the next couple of weeks.

Our first video! We're famous -- we on YouTube!

Okay - this is us - a few short weeks ago -- check out our video.  We apologize for the lighting.  We were afraid there wasn't enough light and ended up making it too light!  The puppies are still darling.

Paddy is in love with the pink sock.  Corvette and Lexus are sharing a rope chew toy.  Lucas and Zoe have already played hard and are starting to get tired -- I hope you can see the collars well enough to know who is who -- Next video -- better lighting!  Enjoy  -click the link below

Today's bloopers -- find your puppy!

Picture Day again????

This can't be a real fish

Stay right there -- don't move

I cannot stay away another minute

You want me to sit next to the fish?

4 Weeks Old

The pups are maturing by leaps and bounds this past week - right on schedule.

No running yet - can get from one place to another quickly -- not always in a straight line!

They have found their voices ~  tiny teeth are coming in - soon no more mama but onto puppy food.

We'll talk about what I feed and more details soon.

And - of course, they have their new collars - color coded!

  • Lexus - pink
  • Corvette - red
  • GTO - green
  • Patrick (Paddy) blue
  • Zoe - purple
